Mathieu Mole (1584-1656); French statesman; first President of the Parlement in Paris; on August 26th, 1648 he attempted to demand the release of Pierre Broussel; unsuccessful he returned empty handed but was induced by the crowd to return to the Palais Royal and persuaded Anne d'Autriche to release broussel and other prisoners;
