The Artist: Willie Rodger
Willie Rodger is one of Scotland's master linocut artists and Associate of the Royal Scottish Academy. He shifts the boundaries and extends the frontiers of experimental craft techniques thus creating powerful images by making marks on linoleum, removing from the surface every particle of material which should not register as part of the finished relief print.
He trained at Glasgow School of Art for five years in the graphic arts, used his skills as a commercial artist and taught art in secondary schools at Lenzie and Clydebank for over thirty years, whilst establishing himself as a freelance artist. He has exhibited work at the Open Eye Gallery in Edinburgh in wood and lino and oil on board.
