In 1586 during a skirmish with the Spanish at Zutphen in The Netherlands, Sidney was wounded by a musket ball; he managed to ride back to camp where he called for water but caught sight of another wounded soldier; immediately he ordered the water to be given to this man stating that his need was greater than his own;
