The Godebski family, although of modest means, were patrons of the arts; Cipa Godebski (18745-1937) was a patron of Toulouse-Lautrec; the pianist Misia Sert was his sister; Ravel was a particular friend of the Godebskis and after the death of Ravel's father, he became part of their family, composing work at their country house, La Grangette, near Fontainebleau;
