St. Dominic (1170-1221), c12th founder of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) is depicted with his symbolic attributions of a dog with a torch, rosary and star on forehead; the figure above on a cloud depicts Jesus with three arrows with which he threatened to punish wicked humans; his mother persuaded him to stay his anger by telling her son of the valour of St. Dominic in fighting evil;
