scenes from the life of the Virgin in the Cappella dell'Assunta; Chapel of the Assumption; the parents of the Virgin, Anne and Joachim, depicted on the left, have brought their 3 year old daughter to consecrate her to God; in the Eastern Orthodox Church feast known as 'The Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple' and was celebrated from the 6th century; in the Western Roman Church the festival was introduced in the 14th century; story is not found in the New Testament but derives from the apocryphal Gospel of Saint James;
