About
Basile Parent (1807-1866); Belgian entrepreneur and industralist, who helped in the construction of the first railway line between Brussels and Malines and later railways between Paris and Strasbourg, Italy and Spain; during the Second Empire lived in Paris and was frequent visitor of Emperor Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie at the Tuileries Palace; as a young man, Parent participated in the 1830 Belgian Revolution;
