Adolphe Thiers (1797-1877): French politician, journalist and historian; caricature satirising Thiers for favourising the Orleans family and depicting himd as a pear holding a pear in the shape of King Louis-Philippe, whose minister he was from 1830-40; caricature also shows other pears depicting other members of the Orleans family, Duc d'Aumale, Prince de Joinville, Comte de Paris, Duc de Nemours and Duc de Chartres; President of France 1871-73;
