the temple is dedicated to Lord Mangueshi, an incarnation of Shiva; the original temple was located at Kushastali but was relocated in the 16th century to Priol after the Portuguese entered that territory; it wasn't until the mid-18th century that the temple in its new location was renovated by Ramchandra Sukhtankar, a respected general in the Maratha court;
