John William Waterhouse

The artist John William Waterhouse was best known for his paintings of women from ancient Greek mythology, Arthurian legend and from literature. He was predominantly known for working in the Pre-Raphaelite style, borrowing stylistic influences not only from the earlier Pre-Raphaelites but also from his contemporaries, the Impressionists. He was also a teacher, a draftsman, and a sculptor and his works were popular during his own time and they remain very popular to this day.
