Marianne North

Helipterum phlomoides, DC. is one of the most remarkable of the many kinds of "Everlasting" found in South Africa. It grows several feet high, and on the hill side in the distance looks like so many tombstones. The Protea is P. formosa, R. Br., which, like P. speciosa in 435, has beautifully fringed bracts.
