Maharaja Mohkam Singh of Kishangarh

Maharaja Mokham Singh (reigned 1839-41) is featured riding a magnificent stallion with hennaed lower half, with attendants walking with flywhisks, a spear and a parasol.  The kings of Rajasthan were great patrons of art and often commissioned portraits and lavish depictions of court life. This work was painted by an anonymous artist from Kishangarh (Rajasthan, India), circa 1832-41. Add.Or.5570.
