On board the German Emperor's yacht 'Meteor'

This grey wash drawing is annotated with colour notes and the names of the personnel on board the 'Meteor', including the German Emperor on the right. It is possibly a preliminary drawing for a magazine illustration, although the presence of colour notes suggests that it may be for a watercolour or oil painting. The schooner yacht 'Meteor' was built for Kaiser Wilhelm II at Schooner Island near New York and launched by Miss Alice Roosevelt, the daughter of the President of the United States, in February 1902.
