Th exquisite opening page of the Akbarnama manuscript written by Muhammad Husain Zarrinqalam (‘Golden-pen’), 1602–3; decorations ascribed to Daulat, 1603–5. The Akbarnama is the official history of the reign of the Mughal Emperor Akbar (r. 964-1015). The border decorations include angels, saints and mystics in an imaginary landscape.
