Rama and Sita's marriage
King Janaka, father of Sita, meets Dasaratha, father of Rama. Janaka formally offers the hand of his daughter to Rama, and his other daughter Urmila to Laksmana, Rama's brother. The two daughters of Janaka's brother are married to Rama's other brothers, Bharata and Satrughna. The marriage pavilion is shown here, with the four couples. This copy of the Ramayana was commissioned by Rana Jagat Singh of Mewar in Rajashan between 1649 and 1653.
