Royal aquatic excursion to Greenwich Hospital
This appears to be a reprint, with a shortened title, of an image originally issued in 1832. The title of the earlier version showed it to record a visit by William IV and Queen Adelaide to Greenwich Hospital on 12 March that year during the Governorship of William's old naval friend Admiral Sir Richard Keats. The view from the river is almost due south, rather than axial, exposing the east fronts of the King Charles and King William Courts of the Hospital and showing a vast crowd of Greenwich Pensioners drawn up in the Grand Square to welcome the king at the watergate, where his barge is just arriving, heading upstream from the left.
