The Dutch fleet on its way to the Scottish coast, 10-20 August 1665
An unsigned drawing of the Dutch fleet in open water. On the right is a port quarter view of about six ships, all of whom are running down before the wind towards some other ships on the left horizon. The ship on the extreme right has courses, topsails and spritsails set. In the centre foreground is a port quarter view of a galjoot, also before the sail. This galjoot has a square sail sheeted to the bowsprit end.
The drawing is inscribed, 'donderdach den 20 augustij 1665' which identifies the date of the work as Thursday 20 August 1665.
