Product details The East Indiaman 'Providence'
The East Indiaman 'Providence'
A portrait of the East Indiaman 'Providence', shown in full sail broadside-on. The white cliffs of the English coast are visible in the distance and she is accompanied by other vessels. The 'Providence' was constructed in 1807 but did not enter the service of the East India Company until March 1816. The vessel undertook a single voyage to St Helena and China, under the command of Captain Andrew Timbrell Mason, returning to England in August 1817.
