Product details 1962 Porsche Formula 1 racing car
1962 Porsche Formula 1 racing car
1962 Porsche Formula 1 racing car. Porsche are best known in motor racing circles for their achievements in sportscar racing, particularly their achievements at Le Mans. They did briefly compete in Formula 1 as well, entering cars for the 1961 and 1962 Grand Prix seasons after the Formula 2 competition, which they had dominated, was cancelled. The cars were reasonably successful, with Dan Gurney achieving three second places in 1961. In 1962 he went one better, winning the French Grand Prix. It would prove to be Porsche's lone Grand Prix triumph, however, as when the regulations were changed after the 1962 season, they withdrew from Formula 1 to concentrate on sportscar racing.
