Hermann Lang in a Mercedes Benz 300 SL, Nurburgring 1000km, 1952. He first started racing motorcycle sidecars. In 1933 he joined the engineering division of Mercedes and began as a test driver. In the 1934 season he was given the position of race mechanic to Luigi Fagioli,and was promoted to the race team for the 1935 season. In 1939 he won at Pau, won for the third time at Tripoli, and won in the Eifelrennen. He rejoined the Mercedes team after the war in 1951, and not only came first at Nurburgring in 1952 but also won the Le Mans 24 Hour race.
