Zoological study of a pygmy marmoset Cebuella pygmaea native to South America. Shown in profile with its forelimbs resting on an ear of maize as an indicator of scale. Plate 29 from The natural history of monkeys, by Sir William Jardine (Edinburgh, 1833) The Naturalist's Library. Mammalia. Vol.1. Referred to in the text as 'The Leonine Tamarin'. The plate is inscribed: 'PLATE 29. MIDAS LEONINA. Lizars sc.'
