Henry Bond's inclinatory needle, a form of compass. Frontispiece to The longitude found: or, a treatise shewing an easy and speedy way... To find the longitude.., by Henry Bond (London, 1676). Henry Bond claimed his inclinatory needle provided a method of finding position at sea by observing the magnetic variation. His article on the subject was published in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, Vol 8.
