Four 'humanoid' figures: (L-R) Troglodyta Bontu, Lucifer Aldrovandi, Satyrus Tulpii and Pygmaeus Edwardi from thesis CV 'Anthropomorpha' by Christianus Emmanuel Hoppius, 1760, published in volume 6 of Amoenitates academicae (Stockholm, 1763). Amoenitates academicae ('Academic delights', 10 volumes, 1749-1790) was published in Carl Linnaeus's name, and edited by him (vols 1-7) and J C D Schreber (vols 8-10). It consisted of theses presented and defended by students at Uppsala University.
