Head and shoulders studio portrait of William Bowman looking directly to camera with his upper body turned to the right as viewed. Inscribed below the image in red: "Arthur Lucas. Wigmore St." Reverse has various inscriptions, including "Arthur Lucas. 49 late 37 Wigmore Street W". Sir William Bowman was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1841.
