Signatures of Henry VII, Elizabeth of York, Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon
Signatures of Henry VII, Elizabeth of York, Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon, 16th century. Royal signatures in a Book of Hours of the Virgin and and other Offices, in Latin, written late in the 15th century, on vellum, and illuminated by Flemish artists. The MS appears to have belonged to a lady the the court of the first two Tudor kings, containing (on the two pages represented) autograph inscriptions by Henry VII and his wife, Elizabeth of York, and Henry VIII, and his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. In the case of the last, the signature has been obliterated. From the third series of Facsimiles of royal, historical, literary and other autographs in the Department of Manuscripts, British Museum: Series I-V, (London, 1899).
