Product details Sir Edward Coke, Recorder of London

Sir Edward Coke, Recorder of London

'Sir Edward Coke, Recorder of London', 1615. Seated portrait in an ornate gilt frame of Lord Coke, a prominent judge and Recorder of London. He wears his hair long, under a tight black cap, with a red robe and lace cuffs. A book lies open on a stand beside him, probably a reference to legal text books or to his own writings on the law.
