Marine biological studies of two Australian fishes. Figure 1 'Lethrinus ? cyanoxanthus, Blue- and yellow faced Lethrinus' [modern taxonomy Lethrinus nebulosus Spangled Emperor]. According to the accompanying text 'The specimen represented in the plate was taken at Houtmans Abrolhos', a chain of islands off Western Australia. Figure 2 'Lethrinus cinnabarinus Blue-lined red Lethrinus' [modern taxonomy Lethrinus erythracanthus, the Orange spotted emperor] 'taken at the same place with the preceding species'. Plate 4 from the publication Icones piscium, or plates of rare fishes by John Richardson (London, Richard and John E. Taylor, 1843).
