'The City carriers', 1769. a procession consisting of City officials approaches the entrance to St James's Palace in order to present the Petition of the Livery. Heading the procession is the Lord Mayor, Samuel Turner; amongst those accompanying him are Aldermen Beckford, Barlow Trecothick and Sir Robert Ladbroke.
