Tweeting random images from our archive
At the last check we had over 1/4 million images in our catalogue, and we're adding new content all the time. Naturally many of our images are famous, but we also have many many thousands that rarely surface on the site. We know that there are beautiful, curious, new, or just plain weird images in here that are very rarely seen. Even by us.
So we decided that a fun way to discover some of these images would be to tweet a random image from our archive every day, and so MagnoliaBot was born. (And no, it didn't take long to come up with his name.)
Each image will be a completely random choice, pulled from our entire catalogue. MagnoliaBot could pick something already popular or he may unearth a previously unseen gem. (And we should probably point out that there is a chance he may pick an image that is borderline-NSFW. Some of those Old Masters just loved painting nudes.)
So if you're on Twitter, follow @magnoliabot and you'll see a different image every morning.
